National Lok Adalat held

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organized the first National Lok Adalat of 2020 at Lamphel Court Complex for Imphal East & Imphal West districts, under the guidelines of the National Legal Services Authority.
Various pending cases before the Courts as well as pre-litigation cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat for amicable settlements.
National Lok Adalat was also organized at Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tengnoupal districts by the concerned District Legal Services Authorities.
In the said National Lok Adalat held today for the State, a total number of 349 cases were disposed with a total settled amount of Rs 1,92,98,691 /- (Rupees one crore ninety-two lakh ninety-eight thousand six hundred and ninety-one) .
The settled cases comprise of bank matters, Criminal compoundable cases, Civil cases, Family Court cases, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal cases etc.
This year, the Manipur State Legal Services Authority is targeting a maximum disposal of cases relating to electricity, water bill and land revenue, said a press release issued by Deputy Member Secretary, MASLSA.
Lok Adalat ensures speedy disposal by amicable settlement between the parties and saves valuable time of the parties and their witnesses apart from facilitating inexpensive and prompt remedy to the satisfaction of both the parties, it added.
Media played a valuable role in spreading information, awareness and attracting people to settle their disputes through Lok Adalat and the same is highly appreciated, added the statement.
Manipur State Legal Services Authority lauded all the Judicial Officers, Ld Advocates, staff for their contribution in successfully holding the National Lok Adalat.
