Imphal, February 08 2019: Directorate of Health Services Manipur and State Health Society Manipur organised a one day sensitisation workshop on 'Air Pollution and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)' at Hotel Nirmala today.

Medical Superintendent JNIMS Professor L Ranbir, Additional Director (MC), DHS Dr P Shyamsunder and Additional Director (PH) DHS, Dr Kh Sashikumar Mangang attended the event as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

Talking about air pollution on the occasion, State Epidemiologist, Medical Directorate Dr L Gojendra stated that the exact data for rate of air pollution in Manipur is not available.

Underlining the consequences of air pollution which has harmful effect to the human body, Dr Gojendra appealed all to take preventive measures before the air in the State becomes unhealthy and heavily polluted for survival.

Such awareness programmes will help people know and gain more knowledge about air pollution and its ill effects.
