Thoubal, January 08 2014:
Owing to the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government, staff of the Specialized Adoption Agencies, being run at five districts of the State, are reeling under different inconveniences and hardships.
Altogether, there are 28 staff in the agencies which are being run by the State Social Welfare Department under Central Government's Integrated Child Protection Scheme in Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel and Ukhrul districts.
The staff have not got their due salary since March 2013 although they have submitted a written representation to Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai in this regard.
Moreover, the staff have been bearing the cost of children's fooding since October last year as the Department had stopped providing maintenance amount from the month.
The boy lodged in Imphal East centre and the girl of the Thoubal centre are frequently ill due to cold weather condition.
Although, the boy of the Imphal East centre needs urgent surgery, the Department has failed to take up necessary steps in this regard.
