KNO/KRA (U) chairman shot dead, another dead body found near Koubru Leikha

Kangpokpi, December 07 2014: Chairman of KNO/KRA (U), a SoO signatory has been shot dead by unknown miscreants this morning at around 7:30 am near Khengjang cemetery under Gamnom Sapormeina Police Station.

The deceased Chairman has been identified as Paokhothang alias Thangboi Chongloi (38), s/o (L).

According to family source, on learning that one villager of their neighbouring village K.Lhangnom, just at a stone's throw from Khengjang village died yesterday night, the deceased went to pay homage to the departed soul.

However, he returned back to the village when he came to know on reaching K.Lhangnom village that the deceased person will be buried at his temporary residence at Sapormeina.

Unfortunately, on the way to home some unknown armed miscreants shot him near the cemetery but he however managed to reach up to the cemetery where the villager took him for hospital but died on the way added the source.

Later, Gamnom Sapormeina police took the dead body and deposited at RIMS morgue for postmortem in the evening.

In the meantime, another unknown male dead body was recovered near Koubru Leikha at around 12:35 pm this afternoon bearing a bullet exit point on the back side of his head.

Later, the dead body has been identified by his family member at the police station as Kamminlal Chongloi (36), s/o (L).

Limsat Chongloi of K.Lhangnom village but temporary resided at Sapormeina.

Interestingly, the deceased was alleged to be the one whom the KNO/ KRA (U) chairman went to pay homage at K.Lhangnom. According to Kamminlal wife Chochong, three unknown persons who came by auto yesterday at their temporary residence brought her husband stating that their leader wanted to talk to him.

When he did not returned back till late night I have been inquiring by every possible means but futile said Chochong while adding that this morning at around 11 am we got a message from one unknown number stating your husband dead body is in between Sapormeina and Koubru Leikha near the national highway.

She continued that I have no idea who will be responsible behind killing of my husband while demanding the reason for killing her husband she also asked those involved in the crime to come out openly with their reason of eliminating her husband.

Meanwhile, another unconfirmed source suspected the dead body found near Koubru Leikha to be a cadre of KRA (U), a SoO signatory under UPF.

However, there is no official confirmation whether he really was the member of UPF/KRA (U) or not until filing of this report.

Later, the dead body has been deposited at RIMS Morgue for postmortem by Gamnom Sapormeina police.
