Address Kwakta PHC shortcomings by Oct 12, appeal local organisations

Urging the Government to plug the shortage of doctors, nurses and other shortcomings at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Kwakta by October 12, five organisations of Kwakta have threatened to shut down the Centre and simultaneously launch agitations from the next day onwards otherwise.
Newly appointed president of Anjuman Islah-E-Muashara, Moulana Abdul Kalam made the remark today during an inspection of the Kwakta PHC alongwith media persons and representatives of All Kwakta Co-ordinating Committee, All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation, All Meitei Pangal Youth Association and Jamiatul Ulama Bishnupur District.
Addressing the media persons, Moulana Abdul Kalam highlighted the outdated labour room, lack of bedsheets and child delivery specialist at the Centre which was once awarded by the State Government for performing the highest number of baby deliveries.
He also spoke about the manpower shortage at the PHC adding that contrary to the required five doctors, the Centre has only 3 at present.
While a dental surgeon has been sanctioned, there is none at the PHC.
Out of five nurses, only three are posted at the Kwakta PHC as two have utilized at PHC Heingang and Saiton.
In addition, the PHC still requires a watchman, an ambulance driver as well as an ambulance, he said.
The inspection cum press briefing was attended by Md Akhtar Shah, secretary, All Kwakta Co-ordinating Committee; Md Hanif Khan, general secretary, All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation; Md Zamir Khan, general secretary, All Meitei Pangal Youth Association and Moulana Ishlahudin Qasmi, Jamiatul Ulama Bishnupur District among others.
