Mission Indradhanush (Phase II) launched

Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal and Chairman of the District Health Society, Thoubal, T Ranjit Singh IAS, on Wednesday, launched the Mission Indradhanush-2015 (Phase II) under the theme "Be wise : Get your child fully immunized", at the conference hall of DC office, Thoubal, our correspondent reports.
The launch event was held under the aegis of the District Health Society, Thoubal.
Mission Indradhanush provides immunisation against seven life-threatening diseases like diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B, DC, Thoubal, T Ranjit said during his speech.
The main aim of the mission is to immunise all the children from the seven diseases by 2020, Ranjit added.
District Health Society, Thoubal targets to achieve 90 percent of full immunization in Thoubal district through the mission.
A total of 72 immunization centres will be set up to be cover 6500 dropout and left out children in between 0-2 years residing at high risk areas and hard to reach areas.
Mission Indradhanush, formulated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, intends to expand immunisation coverage in India to at least 90 percent children in the next five years.
The second phase which commenced today will be followed by a week long intensified immunization drive for three consecutive months, starting from November 7, December 7, 2015 and January 7, 2016, he said.
District Family Welfare officer, Thoubal, Dr N Akendra Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal, N Jayentakumar, District Programme Manager (DPM), Thoubal, H Rishikesh Sharma, and top medical officers, doctors, nurses and ASHA volunteers attended the launch programme.
