The NH-37 Left Out Properties Land and Structure Owner's Association (NCLPLSOA) has resolved to temporarily lift the economic blockade along NH-37 following the signing of a joint Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) between the Sub-Divisional Officer, Nungba, the Officer-in-Charge of Nungba Police Station (representing the District Administration) and NCLPLSOA.
The economic blockade was imposed by NCLPLSOA along NH-37 from Khongsang to Kambiron from September 6 to 8 .
As per a press release issued by Dinrei Gangmei, convenor, NCLPLSO (Khongsang to Kambiron) and Languingam Gonmei, secretary, NCLPLSOA Nungba, the joint MoU was signed at the Nungba Sub-Divisional Headquarter today.
The agreement aimed to address the grievances faced by the NCLPLSOA.
During the meeting, the District Administration acknowledged the legitimacy of these concerns and agreed to hold a more detailed discussion to explore solutions.
The meeting will be chaired by the Chairman of the Hill Area Committee, Government of Manipur and is scheduled for September 9, 2024 at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Noney.
Additionally, it may be noted that the economic blockade was temporarily lifted on humanitarian grounds considering the appeal from the District Administration of Noney and in light of the hardships involved.
However, NCLPLSOA cautioned that it would resume the agitation if the authorities fail to comply with their grievances during the upcoming joint sitting of Chairman HAC and District Administration and other concerned authorities convened by the District Administration Noney.
