Imphal, March 07 2020:
MLA of Thangmeiband AC Khumukcham Joykisan conveyed that people should encourage all the products/items which are manufactured or organically produced in the State and utilise them in reality.
He made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest at the launching of black rice tea (Chak-Hao Cha) at CSIR-NEIST branch laboratory Lamphelpat today.
The MLA continued that many enthusiastic entrepreneurs of the State who manufactured home made items or developed organic produces have disappeared with time owing to the lack of proper market.
Saying that strengthening or bridging the gap between the producer/entrepreneur and the market is crucial, Joykisan mentioned that it will enable the made in Manipur products to reach places outside the State and subsequently improve the economic condition of the State.
It is also important for people to let go of the habit of relying on imported products and the concept that products found outside Manipur are always better, he noted.
Maintaining that black rice/Chak-Hao has many benefits on the human body, the MLA applauded the entrepreneur for developing a tea derived from Chak-Hao.
Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEIST branch laboratory Lamphelpat Dr Huidrom Birkumar said that some people had already come up with Chak-Hao tea before but they grind the rice and use the powder.
While, the Chak-Hao tea developed by TT Foods use the rice along with some food additive.
He continued that the powder form, when made, turns thick and changes colour which people might find it less interesting.
However, the newly launched tea gives a new and interesting taste when the rice is soaked in hot water.
When entrepreneurs in the State are able to substitute each of the imported product, which are essential for daily use, it is inevitable for the State's economy to surely improve, he added.
However, it is also equally important for the people to motivate the budding and enthusiastic entrepreneurs of the State, he mentioned.
The function was organised by TT Foods Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai in which TT Foods proprietor Pukhrambam Suresh, AIR Imphal prog executive Engudam Achou and Branch manager, UBI Imphal branch, North AOC Huirem Suraj Meetei attended the function as president and special invitees respectively.
