Imphal, March 07 2012:
A joint meeting of all the successful Congress candidates and the two AICC Observers deputed by Sonia Gandhi was held at the Office of MPCC today wherein the decision for selecting the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) was minutely discussed.
Reliable source revealed that since there was no Opposition from any of the aspiring candidates for the post of CPL leader and AICC do not encourage any sort of internal clashes over the matter, the meeting unanimously resolved to go ahead with the decision of the Party's High Command, Sonia Gandhi on the selection of CLP leader.
The sources further revealed that Luiziho Faleiro would be going back to Delhi tomorrow with the decision taken today and make it known to Sonia Gandhi.
He would also be accompanied by Chief Minister O Ibobi who is expected to hold a separate meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
After that Sonia Gandhi would be meeting the two AICC observers before deciding on who should be the next CLP leader.
Meanwhile, according to another source, Chief Minister O Ibobi would be submitting his resignation letter from the post of Chief Ministership before flying off to Delhi tomorrow along with the two observers.
The source further said that since the credit for the landslide victory of Congress in the election goes to Chief Minister O Ibobi, none of the aspiring Congress candidates brought up the idea of changing the CLP leader to the AICC observers.
As a consequence, Ibobi is most likely to be the next CLP leader without any hassle from any quarters.
