Imphal, December 06 2024:
Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTOV) condemned alleged brutal assault and torture of 10 innocent Kom villagers of Sagang areas at Dampi village by Kuki militants, suspected to be members of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), on December 4 .
In a release, KTOV disclosed that Kom villagers were summoned to Dampi Kuki village and asked to deliver three bags of rice by Kuki militants.
Out of fear and helplessness, the 10 went to deliver the rice on December 4 .
However, on reaching Dampi village the Kuki militants started thrashing them without any explanation and threatened them of dire consequence if they report it to any authority.
"Such act is totally unacceptable, highly deplorable and violation of human rights," the release condemned, while stating that Kuki militants have been indulging in illegal activities without fear of authority in the region.
Urging the state government and the security advisor to immediately look into the matter and take befitting action against the culprits involved in the crime, KTOV cautioned that such provocation by the Kuki militants will not be taken lightly by the Kom community in future.
