Imphal, September 06 2024: The State Secretariat, the hub of the State's administration, is now almost defunct with its head, the Chief Secretary staying away from his office for a prolonged period.

Sources said that Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi has been out of Manipur for over 30 days, leaving the whole Secretariat in complete disarray.

With the Secretariat now almost defunct, several aspects of the State's civil administration have been affected.

Meanwhile, many have questioned why Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi has been staying away from his office when the State has been passing through a critical phase marked by a continuous and deadly offensive from Kuki militants.
