Imphal, August 06 2015: All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild, Manipur have expressed regret over non-publication of newspapers on August 6 and non-broadcast of Prime Time news on electronic media on August 5 due to the intense nature of the bandh called by JCILPS Student Wing.

In a joint statement, the two scribe bodies said that the crucial decision of non-publication and non-broadcast of news was taken in a joint meeting of Editors and AMWJU considering the fact that many workers of the press including Editors, sub-editors, reporters, DTP operators, machine-men, plate-makers, distributors, circulation personnel and others could not reach the press.

Reporters and cameramen could not gather news due to road blockades at different places, the statement said.

The scribe bodies also appealed to the public to allow free passage to reporters and media related personnel so that news is provided to the public uninterrupted.
