Gaikhangam calls for development of Zeliangrong literature

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has called for equitable development among all four forms of Zeliangrong literature to add charm to the rich literature of the State.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the prize distribution ceremony of HSLC Examination-2013 toppers in Ruanglat subject organized by Rongmei Literature Society at Manipur Press Club here today.
Gaikhangam stated that Rongmei is one of the languages recognized by the Government.
Students are fortunate to learn their mother language in their high school level.
They deserve accolades for having passed the HSLC Examination in Ruanglat subject, he noted.
He further said that UPSC has even included Manipuri language in various competitive examinations after it got enlisted in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

Deputy Chief Minister further appealed to the Zeliangrong people to strive to promote and bring up their language.
The prize distribution function was also attended by MLA Janghemlung Panmei, Tamenglong ADC Chairman G Soihem Haomei, Principal Secretary (Power) LP Golmei, Commissioner Robert Disinang and Additional Secretary Hucham Gonmei.
The first topper in Ruanglat subject DP Lungngampou and second topper Bejalen Kamei were presented cash prize of Rs.10,000 and Rs.7000 respectively, while the three students who secured third position in the subject were given Rs.5000 each.
