Jiribam (Imphal East), May 06 2015 : During an inspection drive in Government schools in Jiribam by All Manipur Students' Union District Committee Jiribam, out of the 18 teachers of Jirighat Government High School, only 6 teachers including the Headmaster in-charge were found present, according to a statement of AMSU District Committee Jiribam.

Two teachers who had reportedly taken an absent leave have also failed to attend the school even after maximum limit of permissible absence had crossed days back.

Another teacher was found to be on leave and had kept one RMSA teacher as the substitute.

When enquired over the absence of a good number of teachers, the Headmaster in-charge said that notice to teachers to attend the school regularly had been issued repeatedly in the past.

However, teachers would sometimes go on leave and fail to turn up for days.

AMSU District Committee Jiribam stated that considering the academic career of the students, the Education Department should look into the matter and take up necessary steps.
