Speaking on the sidelines of the function, Takhellambam Irabot Singh, spokesperson and treasurer of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur claimed that the original idol built from jack fruit tree by the Rajarshi Bhagyachandra is the Madan Mohan Temple at Singjamei Oinam Thingel.
He clarified that many mistakenly consider the Madan Mohan temple at Kongba as the temple where the idol built by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra is being kept and worshipped.
Conveying that King Bhagyachandra built nine Hindu idols from a jackfruit tree and its branches grown at Kainya Hill, he contended that the idols are kept at Bijoy Govinda, Shree Shree Govindajee Temple, Shree Shree Gopinath Temple, Ningthoukhong, Shree Shree Madan Mohan Temple at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Shree Shree Arambam Nityainanda Temple, Nagamapal, Shree Shree Ami Mahaprabhu Temple, Nabadwip, West Bengal, Shree Shree Adeitya Temple, Lamangdong, Shree, Shree Gouriyai Prabhu, Sega Road and Shree Shree Bangsibudon Temple, Khangabok.
He stated that Rajasrshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur and many worshippers of Hindu deity were shocked in finding the Madan Mohan Temple at Singjamei Oinam Thingel in an ignoring state with no conduct of traditional practices there.
As such, Rajasrshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur has decided to hold its 7th foundation day at the temple with the objective of reviving and promoting the status of the temple across the State, he asserted.
Karam Shyam regretted that he felt pity on seeing the dilapidated condition of Madan Mohan Temple, observing that keeping the temple in such a condition amounts to ignoring the forefathers of the State.
He assured that he will raise the matter in the House and consult the Speaker and authorities of Arts & Culture Department to develop the temple at the earliest.
