Imphal, September 05 2011:
MLA Wungnaoshung Keishing today slammed Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing for his remark on the issues of creation of new districts in the state and called him anti-democracy, anti-development and anti-people.
It may be mentioned that Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing in an interview with a local newspaper said that there is no need or urgency to create other districts in the state except the Sadar Hills.
While talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in an exclusive interview on the phone, MLA Wungnaoshung Keishing who is currently in New Delhi told that the state cabinet had discussed the matter of a separate Phungyar district following a demand of the Phungyar District Demand Committee.
Even the state assembly discussed the matter and termed it a legitimate demand.
It is unfortunate that the MP felt that an ADC would suffice for Phungyar and termed the demand of Phungyar district unjustified, he said.
Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland create separate districts even for a mere population of 40,000 people for smooth administration and development.
Phungyar has over 67,000 populations which is large enough population for the creation of a new district.
The demand for the creation of a Phungyar district is for the development of the area, Wungnaoshung said.
