Legal sensitization cum consultative meeting held

Imphal, May 05 2018: The United Tribal Civil Organisations' Manipur (UTCOM) organized a one day legal sensitization cum consultative meeting on May 1 in collaboration with the Imphal East District Legal Services Authority at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Chingmeirong, Imphal.

Judge, Gaiphunsillu Golmei, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal East, graced the function as the chief guest.

R Daniel, Advocate, High Court of Manipur spoke on the topic of the Manipur (Village Authorities in the Hill Areas) Act, 1956 .

Serto T Kom, Advocate, High Court of Manipur, R Daniel too spoke at the event as resource persons.

R Daniel stressed that the Manipur (Village Authorities in the Hill Areas) Act, 1956 passed 62 years ago has not been properly implemented.

Emphasizing the need for amendment, he called for awareness of the same.

Serto T Kom also called for amendment of the Act to suit the need of modern people.
