Imphal, December 04 2024:
Many organisations across the State staged protest demanding withdrawal of FIR filed against Korounganba Khuman, leader of Arambai Tenggol by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup, an apex body of Meira Paibis organisations from the Singjamei area, organised a human chain protest at Singjamei Parking on Tuesday evening demanding not to arrest Arambai Tenggol leader and other village volunteers.
During the protest, the Meira Paibis voiced their strong opposition to the Government's actions, particularly the case filed against Korounganba Khuman.
The Meira Paibis denounced the Government of India's handling of the prolonged conflict which has been going on for more than 18 months and accused the Government of indirectly supporting the Kuki-Zo narco-terrorist.
The Meira Paibis also questioned the logic of pulling up village volunteers who were only defending innocent and helpless villagers.
"It would be wrong and gross injustice if all the youth who took up arms in self defence are assumed and declared as outlaws.
The Government must ponder on why the youth who should be going to schools and colleges took up arms, said the Meira Paibis.
The Meira Paibis also reiterated that the youths were compelled to take up arms after Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists launched a deadly aggression, slaughtered many innocent people and burnt down thousands of houses.
The Meira Paibis condemned the attempt to arrest Kourounganba Khuman, asserting that Arambai Tenggol is not a militant group and that neither its members nor village volunteers should face arrest.
The Meira Paibis declared that Arambai Tenggol played a crucial role in defending the Meitei community from Kuki aggression, and vowed that the women of Meitei would stand in support of Kourunganba Khuman and all village volunteers.
Furthermore, the Meira Paibis appealed for immediate release of Laishram Kamalbabu who went missing from an Army camp located at Leimakhong.
They asserted that the inability to trace the whereabouts of Laishram Kamalbabu has made people lose their faith in Central para military forces and urged the relevant authority to trace the whereabouts of the missing person.
Similarly, All Pukhao Apunba Meira Paibi Lup also staged a sit-in protest demanding withdrawal of the FIR.
filed against Korounganba Khuman by NIA.
During the sit-in held at Pukhao Khabam playground, Meira Paibis urged the authorities concerned not to arrest Korounganba Khuman by levelling various charges.
