Jayantakumar unveils statue of Kharam Maichou Thadoi

Kpi, November 04 2019:
Minister L Jayantakumar today unveiled the statue of Kharam Maichou Thadoi at Kharam Pallel village in Kangpokpi district, followed by inauguration of Laamtuol Fencing, Kharam Pallel.
Kharam Maichou is one among the seven Maichous of Manipur.
Speaking as the chief guest at the unveiling of Kharam Maichou Thadoi's statue, Jayantakumar said that Kharam Maichou Thadoi was a genius leader from the tribal communities in Manipur.
The wisdom, philosophies and mighty deeds of the Maichous should be adorned and upheld by the present generation and the generations to come.
Only unveiling his statue does not glorify their ideologies and great deeds, he added.
This event will become a landmark in developing tourism in Kharam village, which is one of the historical site of Manipur, remarked the Minister.
Jayantakumar also assured to set up a Primary Health Sub-Centre at Kharam Pallel to provide health care service to the villagers of Kharam Pallel.
He appealed to the villagers to work in coordination with the Government to improve and develop other sectors of the village.
Speaking at the occasion as the guest of honour, Director Art & Culture, A Shivdas Sharma conveyed that it is the duty of every citizen to protect and uphold the ideologies of the Maichous.
Director Tourism, W Ibohal maintained that it is rather fortunate for all to get an opportunity to trace the footsteps of the forefathers.
Ibohal also assured all possible measures to promote tourism in the area.
Kharam Union president R Samuel Kharam presided the unveiling and inauguration of Laamtuol Fencing while village chief and others also attended the functions.
