Rotary Egg Bank Project launched, awareness programme conducted

Rotary Club of Imphal (RID-3240) today launched Rotary Egg Bank for Rotary Year 2024-25 at two children homes namely Chanura Leikol Children Home for Girls, Khurai Chairenthong, Imphal East District and Punya Children Home for Girls, Thangmeiband, Imphal West District.

Rotary Club of Imphal informed that the project will benefit nearly 114 children of the two homes.
The inaugural function of Rotary Egg Bank held at the children homes was attended by Saratchandra Phijam, president; Devkumar Thoudam, assistant governor; and Sanjay Das, secretary of the club as presidium members.
Members of the club along with staff of the home were also present during the programme.
Notably, the Rotary Egg Bank project is a continuing community service project of Rotary Club of Imphal since 2021 benefitting the children of the homes.
A total of 1690 eggs will be provided to these children homes every month to provide nutritious food to children of the home.
A child at the home will get four eggs per week free of cost with the eggs procured from local poultry farmers.
Rotary Egg bank project is implemented with the voluntary donations from the members of Rotary Club of Imphal.
Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal organised an awareness programme on breastfeeding at JNIMS, Porompat today.
During the event, a team led by Rotary Club of Polo City president Elangbam Sovid and secretary Sanglakpam Preshyojiy Sharma met with mothers in the Post Natal Ward at JNIMS and distributed items such as Mother Horlicks, baby oil, baby shops and hand towel.
They also gave awareness on the benefits of breastfeeding such as protecting babies against some illnesses & diseases and reducing the rate of ovarian cancer for mothers.
