AISF demands repair of damaged school

All India Students Federation (AISF), Manipur State Council has demanded re-construction of damaged Nilapadama Higher Secondary School, Sekmai which is one of the centres for the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2016.Addressing media persons at its Head office, president of AISF, Imphal, Khundrakpam Rameshwor said the student body sent out three teams to look after the ongoing examination held across the State.
It was learnt that Nilapadma Hr Sec School is damaged by the recent earthquake and till today no step has been taken up to re-construct the damaged rooms.
Unfortunately, students are compelled to write the ongoing HSLC examination in four dark and congested rooms.
Nilapadama Hr Sec School is one of the oldest Govt schools of the area.
After repeated requests to the local MLA of Sekmai Assembly Constituency, no steps to repair the damaged portion are taken up.
If the authorities concerned fail to take concrete steps at the earliest AISF along with locals will launch series of agitation, he warned.
Further, he stated that the teams of AISF visited various examination centres across Imphal.
At Thanga Private centre, teachers were seen helping the students in their exams, he alleged.
He urged all concerned to ensure the examination is conducted in a free and fair manner.
The teams of AISF also visited Ananda Sing Higher Secondary school and Moirang Private Center A .
