Imphal, January 04 2024:
Village Volunteer Service (VVS), Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency has appealed against falsely linking the group with politics.
VVS Khundrakpam AC spokesperson N Bobby made the appeal during a press conference held at Sambei under Imphal East district today.
Elaborating on the matter, N Bobby accused the MLA of Khundrakpam AC of depicting VVS Khundrakpam AC as having some connection with the upcoming MP election in a recent speech.
Subsequently, the spokesperson demanded a clarification from the MLA in this regard.
He stated that many residents of Meitei villages under Khundrakpam AC close to Saikul Range had to flee their homes as Kukis began their onslaught on the villagers after violence erupted on May 3 in the State.
Many villagers from Dolaithabi, Ikou, Mairenpat and Yengkhuman under Makeng Dolaithabi Gram Panchayat are still sheltering at relief camps in pathetic conditions, he said.
Under such circumstances, it is unfortunate that the volunteers have been seen through a narrow political lens and painted in a false light, said N Bobby.
Stating that the volunteers have been working tirelessly to safeguard the area without proper food or sleep, he also urged the public of Khundrakpam AC to not be swayed by such false portrayal of the group.
