Seminar emphasises on importance of financial, banking knowledge

Imphal, September 03 2017: A one-day seminar on financial literacy was organized by Sangai Mart, a division of Lamjingba Management Services Private Limited today at the conference hall of Classic Hotel .

Toijam Dinakumar, Single Window Operator-B (SWOB), Dena Bank; Ngangom Gopeshwar, Branch Manager, HDFC Bank; W Herojit, Managing Director, Lamjingba Management Services Private Limited and Tongbram Tejkumar, Manager, Lamjingba Management Services Private Limited attended the function as presidium members .

Speaking at the function, Toijam Dinakumar observed that the larger section of the Manipuri society, including many from educated class lacks financial and banking knowledge and this deficiency makes majority of the people in the society stay away from better savings and loan taking options available at the institutionalised banks .

He asserted that the lack of financial knowledge makes many people reluctant to approach institutionalised banks when they need loans or make savings as they often face procedural snags in matters like opening bank accounts, furnishing the documentation process .

Dinakumar said that majority of the people in the State rely on local money lenders incurring a high interest .

He also said that if people have sufficient financial knowledge, it would be a great boon to them in choosing correct saving options to generate higher interests from their savings .

Stressing on the need for making people aware of financial and banking knowledge, Dinakumar said that resource persons in the State have approached the State Government in the recent past to include financial related topics in the school syllabus .

In his speech, Herojit highlighted the achievements and upcoming plans of Lamjingba Management Services Private Limited saying the company is promoting righteous loan seekers and entrepreneurs in the State .

Claiming that the company has so far achieved success in establishing/launching many divisions on different trades, he said that the private company is also planning to establish several other sectors like dairy industry, diagnostic centre and cab service in the State .

He informed that people can buy household items from Sangai Mega Mart in instalment basis.
