KV teacher arrested for raping student

Imphal, April 03 2013:
A 13-year old girl student studying in class VIII in Kendriya Vidyalaya Ukhrul was reportedly raped by a teacher of the school for the last many months.
The father of the girl has lodged a FIR with Ukhrul police station against the accused teacher identified as one Naresh Kumar (27), who hails from Haryana.
He is presently posted in the school as a WE teacher.
The incident came to light on March 20 when the girl was caught with a mobile phone worth Rs 5000, a gift from said accused teacher.
But the suspicion of rape went back to November 2012 when the father of the girl lodged a complaint with the school authority after his daughter was found detained by the said accused teacher after school hour.
Following the complaint, after 6 days, the school authority along with some teachers visited the father to prevail upon him from revealing the incident to anyone by assuring that it won't happen again in future.
Even after the assurance of the school authorities, the teacher was found emotionally blackmailing the student and compelling her to succumb to his desires.
He even tried to isolate the girl from her friends and class mates by punishing them whenever he caught them talking to her.
The teacher even gave girl a mobile phone for private talks with him only.
It was only when her father came to know about the mobile that the whole incident came to light and the teacher stopped coming to school ever since.
On March 26 last, when a team of Ukhrul District Journalists' Association (UDJA) along with some social activists went to the school to investigate into the case.
The school authority tried their level best to conceal the incident and denied knowledge on the whereabouts of the accused teacher.
However, the teacher was later arrested with the intervention of Ukhrul DC and necessary medical examination was carried out on the victim.
The accused is now in the custody of Ukhrul Police.
