AR extends Ningol Chakkouba greetings; hosts celebration

Assam Rifles joined hands with the communities of Thoubal, Imphal West and Kakching districts to celebrate the cherished Ningol Chakkouba festival, symbolising the deep bonds of family and community.
At Assam Rifles location in Chandrakhong and Singjamei, Assam Rifles personnel gathered with around 100 local residents, exchanging gifts and warm wishes to celebrate the beloved tradition of Ningol Chakkouba, said a press note issued by IGAR (S) .
Ningol Chakkouba is observed on the second day of the Manipuri month of Hiyangei.
During this joyous occasion, brothers invite their married sisters to their homes for a festive feast, symbolizing love, respect and family bonding.
The day is marked by the exchange of gifts, delectable traditional dishes and heartfelt gatherings.
In Kakching, Assam Rifles celebrated the day with students and residents of the relief camp at Langmeidong village.
The event included lively cultural performances with traditional dance, songs and instrumental music performed by students from Kakching.
Assam Rifles personnel also interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Langmeidong relief camp, distributing essential items to women and children, adding warmth to the festive season.
The celebration was organised with the cooperation of local schools and relief camp authorities.
It highlighted Manipur's rich cultural heritage and emphasized Assam Rifles' ongoing efforts to strengthen unity and trust within the community.
The festivities witnessed enthusiastic participation from the people, with approximately 180 attendees at Langmeidong and 130 students in Kakching, coming together to celebrate the spirit of Ningol Chakkouba.
Additionally, Major General Ravroop Singh, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
In a pres note, IGAR (South) has expressed hope that the festival will herald an era of progress and prosperity in the region and promote unity, integrity and peaceful coexistence of the communities in the State.
"May this festival bring joy, love and togetherness to all.
May the sacred thread of family bonds strengthen and flourish", it added.
