Imphal, August 02 2024: At least four vehicles including a school bus were set ablaze in an apparent act of arson at Modern English High School at Ghari Awang Leikai on the intervening night of July 30 and July 31 .

The vehicles were parked inside the school campus.

The northern side of the school also got burnt in the fire, apart from important documents, three cars and one school bus.

Denouncing the attack, teachers and students of Modern English School staged a sit in protest today.

Speaking to the media, one of the students asked all concerned to stop attacking educational institutions.

Saying that student and teacher communities have been appealing not to target schools and colleges but the threat persists, he appealed to the State Government to take up necessary action and make sure there is no disturbance in education.

Placards with inscriptions, "We demand disturbance free educational zone," and "Students are our future hope" were displayed among others.
