Imphal, July 02 2013: A 40-year old man accused of raping his 12-year-old niece was handed over to police by members of local club and Meira Paibee Lup today.

The accused has been identified as Irom Bobo (40), s/o Kameshwar of Tharoijam Maning Leikai under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West.

The incident of rape reportedly happened at around 8.30 pm yesterday night and it came to light after the victim girl disclosed about her uncle's perverted act to her family members.

Accused Bobo, a goldsmith by profession, took advantage of the absence of his family members and raped the girl who is studying in class VII in a Government school.

The victim's mother and the accused's wife are sisters and the girl was staying for the last few days with the accused family.

The victim has been admitted to RIMS Hospital for medical treatment.
