Blood bank capacity in State to be increased : Jayantakumar

Maintaining that donating blood is a big sacrifice in the name of humanity, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh gave an assurance that the existing capacity of blood banks in the State would be increased .
He was addressing the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, 2017 being held at GP Women's College hall today.
The observance function is being organised jointly by National Health Mission, Manipur, Health Department and Manipur State AIDS Control Society .
Speaking as chief guest, Minister Jayantakumar said that the Government will look into the requirements to improve and achieve the target of required blood unit of the State.
He said that everyone need blood to live and donating blood is like giving life to a person .
The Minister observed that one will come to realise about the importance and essentiality of blood only when incident of blood requirement comes in the family .
He also appealed to all to donate blood to save lives of people .
During the function, the Minister distributed certificates and mementos to the voluntary organisations that organise at least three blood donation camps from April to September of this year .
He also visited the blood donation camp being organised in the college .
Parliamentary Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) S Subhashchandra Singh who presided over the function expressed his concern to introduce a policy to motivate the blood donors of the State so that many more donors will come forward .
He handed over a cash reward of Rs 5000 to a donor who has donated blood 54 times.
He also announced a payment of Rs 1000 per month from his salary till his office last as incentive for a blind donor who has donated blood 56 times .
Dr K Rajo Singh, State Mission Director, who is also the Director (Health), Valentina Arambam, Project Director, Manipur State AIDS Control Society and Dr B Lalhari Sharma were present as guests of honour .
Health Services staff, students from different nursing institutes, differently abled person, representatives of voluntary organisations also attended the function .
A rally to mark the observance was also organised in which Parliamentary Secretary Subhashchandra and officials of Health Department took part.
