Rs 10 lakh solatium to kin of Havildar killed in CCpur attack

Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday announced Rs 10 lakh as relief to the family of Havildar (sergeant) G Mohan Kumar, who was killed in attack by armed insurgents at their camp at the Manipur - Myanmar border on Thursday night.
In an official statement, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the death of 41-year old Mohan Kumar and announced financial relief to the family, according to a PTI report.
Mohan Kumar, a native of Coimbatore district, was part of 25 Madras Regiment B-Coy posted close to Myanmar border in Thaigothang village of Singhat sub-division in Churachandpur district.
In the attack, Mohan Kumar was hit by a bomb splinter on the neck and he succumbed to injuries while being airlifted to the military hospital of 57 Mountain Division.
His body was brought to Coimbatore airport on Sunday where Indian army units from Coimbatore paid ceremonial tribute before it was taken to Kovaipudur in the city.
Military funeral of the mortal remains was carried out at Kovaipudur burial grounds at 4 pm.
A cheque for Rs 10 lakh, announced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to the family, was handed over to Bhanumathi, widow of Mohan Kumar by Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani who had earlier directed all the people to pay respects to the martyred army man.
