A new face in the State Assembly, Thanlon MLA and Parliamentary Secretary, Vungzagin Valte has been nominated for the coveted Friendship Forum of India's Rajiv Gandhi Arch for Excellence Award in addition to two other awards for the year 2013. Valte will receive the awards during a presentation function to be held on April 7 at the CD Deshmuk Memorial Auditorium, India International Centre, New Delhi.
He has been nominated to receive the awards alongside former Election Commissioner of India, GVG Krishnamurthy; Prof BV Somasekhar (Member Andhra Pradesh Service Commission); Dr Mossa Kunhi, Heart Surgeon, Cochin; T Yanger Ao; Dr Sam P Abraham, leading Medical personality from Chngana-cherry, Kerala and Prof Dr RN Bhagat, Vice Chancellor, Vinoba Bhave University.
Vungzagin Valte who is also the Parliamentary Secretary of Horticulture SC & CADA will have the distinction to be the lone recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Arch for Excellence Award during the function while he will be sharing the two other awards - the Bharat Excellence Award and North Easter Golden Personalities Award, with the other dignitaries.
A former lead bank manager of the SBI who quit his job to contest the Assembly poll last year, Valte had shown his intention to be a distinct politician by circulating his activities in the past one year on March 14, the day he completed one year in office as an MLA.
He had even posted the-five-page report titled �First year of rebuilding Thanlon: achievements and proposals' in a good number of websites that was frequented by his community's diaspora in an effort seen to take home his intention before his critics and fans alike.
Posting of 68 more teachers in an attempt to made a cluster development of 9 schools in areas where there are 22 non-functional schools run by the education department under the banner Thanlon Education Drive was the one and only of its kind in the State, he said.
