Imphal, March 01 2024:
The Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Govt Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) has decried the State Government's calls for recruitment of vacant posts on contractual basis instead of regular/direct recruitments.
A statement issued by Rajkumar Basumani, president, JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO, has informed that out of 1,17,486 sanctioned posts, roughly 43,000 posts are lying vacant.
Instead of calling for direct recruitment to these posts, the State Government has issued notifications for recruitment on contractual basis.
This shows that the Government has no loyalty to its conflict-ravaged citizens, the statement added.
The JAC also pointed out that instead of the recruitments being conducted by the concerned departments, they should have been executed by the Staff Selection Committee of the State.
On the other hand, the JAC rebuffed allegations of collecting funds for extension of service period for employees whose employment period is over.
Offering a clarification on the matter, the statement maintained that the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO had urged the State Government to extend the service period of current State employees whose service period is close to ending by two years if the Government is unable to disburse the pensionary benefits to these workers.
Stating that the total amount of undisbursed pension benefits is approximately Rs 1000 crore, the JAC added that the extension would provide enough time to the Government to distribute the pending pensionary benefits.
