Imphal, November 30 2020:
The Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, seeking mandatory enrolment of children of Government employees at Government schools.
"As a measure to improve the academic atmosphere in Government schools, the State Government, in 2017, announced that initiative will be taken up to make sure all children of Government employees study at Government schools.
However, the same assurance is yet to go as planned," advisor of MSF, Ngariyanbam Milan Meetei told media persons during a press meet held today at Kwakeithel.
Saying that enrolling children of Government employees and legislatures at Government schools/colleges is imperative to improve the Government schools and colleges of the State, Milan Meetei continued that mis measure will also make them (Government officials and legislatures) understand why the State-run educational institutions are not able to produce many good students.
Compulsory enrolment of children of babus at State schools/colleges will also help in making the 'School Phagathansi' mission of the Government more meaningful, he added.
Pointing out that only 20 percent of the students in Manipur study at Government-run schools according to Educational Report 2020, the advisor of MSF urged the State Government and department to do the needful to improve the at the earliest.
