Health & Family Welfare Director lays down information on upcoming IMI 2.0

Directorate of Family Welfare Manipur organised a media sensitization programme on Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0 at the conference hall of the Directorate today.
Addressing the media, Health and Family Welfare Director Dr K Rajo conveyed that Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 is a drive launched by India Government where it selects some districts of each State of the country for immunisation.
He continued that the India Government, after a thorough monitoring, selects the districts where no immunisation has taken place or where immunisation was not fully covered for the purpose of intensified immunisation.
IMI 2.0 comprises of four rounds, he said and added that the first round will begin from December 2 which will go on for seven days (including holidays) .
Dr Rajo continued that the 2nd round will begin from January 6 while the 3rd round and 4th round will initiate from February 3 and March 2 respectively.
The districts of Manipur which will be covered for the IMI 2.0 are Chandel, Tengnoupal, Tamenglong ad Noney districts, Dr Rajo informed while adding that the immunisation is targeted for 683 pregnant women and 1422 children (0-2 years).
The immunisation will also be held at 298 areas, Dr Rajo said and added that 230 locations/areas which are hard to reach have been identified as well.
He further stated that a State task force meeting, chaired by Principal Secretary, was organised on October 1 to make this immunisation drive effective.
A State Steering Committee meeting, chaired by Addl Chief Secretary, was also organised on November 25, in which district DIOs, CMOs, ICDS attended, he said.
Meanwhile, trainings have been imparted to ANM, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers for this purpose as well, he conveyed.
The immunisation drive will be taken up to prevent Vaccine Preventable Diseases including Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis-B, Polio, JE, Measles, Haemophilus influenza, TB etc, Dr Rajo said while stressing the importance of vaccination as some of the diseases are not curable, he informed.
As such the drive is an intensified and rigorous immunisation to cover children and pregnant women, who were not fully immunised, for prevention of the said diseases.
He continued that immunisation has not been fully covered in some areas due to lack of communication, awareness, knowledge and there are places which were hard to reach and people who were not given full immunisation.
Dr Rajo appealed to all to properly mobilize the drive so as to make it successful and effective and able to cover all the population.
SIO Manipur Dr Th Nandakeshor, SMO Dr PK Dutt, Dr Th Dineshwar Singh and Deputy Director, Family Welfare Dr B Ibomcha Sharma were present at the programme.
