Vigilance awareness week observed

Under the guidance and supervision of T Ranjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal observed a Vigilance Awareness Week at Thoubal District from October 28 on the theme 'Combating Corruption: Technology as an enabler' .
An essay writing competition on the topic "Measures to eradicate corruption in Manipur" was also held at New Public Higher Secondary School, Khangabok today as part of the awareness week.
Md Tarif Khan, L Loyanganba Meitei, Moirangthem Suchitra Devi and Thounaojam Sarju Chanu secured the first, second, third and fourth positions of the competition respectively.
T Ranjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal presented prizes and certificates to the position holders.

Speaking at the occasion, the DC said that the district administration has been observing the awareness week since October 28 and would continue till November 1.The basic idea of the observation is to root out corruption.
E�governance and the concept of replacing papers by computers would hopefully reduce if not eradicate corruption in the society, the DC added.
He appealed to the people for a clean and corruption free society.
He also administered a pledge on the occasion.
Kh Rajmohon Singh, Principal, New Public Higher Secondary School, Thoubal during his speech, highlighted the life and works of Sardar Vallabhbai Patel in connection with the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) by NYK on the October 31.The Principal later undertook the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge.
Over 850 students, teachers and youth leaders participated in the programme.
At the same time, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal observed Vigilance Awareness Week today.
Prof Ch Arun Kumar Singh, Director, RIMS, Imphal administered the pledge to employees of RIMS.
Prof M Amuba Singh, Medical Superintendent, Prof Ak Joy Singh, Dean (Acad), Y Rajendra Singh, Deputy Director, E Debendro Meitei, Chief Accounts Officer cum Financial Advisor, Principal, Dental College, RIMS, other officials, nursing staff and non-teaching staff attended the observance programme, according to a statement.
