One more JE case in Kakching; mosquito nets treated

Kakching, July 31 2019:
A six-year-old girl from Kakching Wairi Ningthou Pareng has been diagnosed positive with Japanese Encephalitis (JE) taking the number of cases in the district to nine.
As precautionary measures to avoid Japanese Encephalitis (JE) inception, mosquito nets of the locals of Kakching Wairi were treated with insecticide solutions today at Kakching Wairi Kongoi Keithel Community Hall.
District Malaria Office Kakching organised the programme with local ASHA workers and Ideal Youth Association (IYA) Kakching Wairi under the aegis of Chief Medical Officer Kakching.
Around 710 mosquito nets were dipped into solutions treated with insecticides.

Meanwhile, concerned with the increasing number of cases, people in other localities have questioned the Kakching Municipal Council and authorities concerned whether necessary measures are being planned to be taken up in other areas (Leikais) also to prevent the vector borne diseases.
"Drainages dug up but left not constructed by the Kakching Municipal Council in many places are waterlogged making them perfect places for mosquitoes to breed and spread diseases like JE and Dengue," said locals.
