Students, SSUM hold rally demanding sufficient teachers at Govt school

Students of Saiton Government High School in association with Socialist Student Union of Manipur organised a rally in connection with the failure of the authority concerned to send the required number of teachers at the school.
The students have been seeking attention of the State Government regarding the insufficient teachers and the negligence of the Govt to fulfill the demand of the students, even when the academic year is about to finish in four months, has enraged the students and compelled them to continue its protest, reports our correspondent.
Socialist Student Union of Manipur HQs extended its support to the students when they found the insufficiencies of teachers at the school during an inspection.
The joint protest rally was taken out from the school campus till Saiton Bazar.
One of the students who participated in the rally, while speaking to media persons, cautioned that the students will give away their books to the ZEO concerned if the Government is not able to fulfil the required teachers.
The student lamented that the authority concerned had utilized teachers from the school instead of sending new teachers and added that students of class IX and X are presently studying together in one class while many books are still left untouched.
SSUM HQs vice president S Yaima Singh has cautioned that Saiton Government High School will be shut down if the State Government fails to provide teachers within August 5 .
He stated that the condition of the school came into light when SSUM along with its Saiton unit visited the school as part of its inspection drive at Govt schools.
