Barrack type quarters inaugurated

Imphal, March 31 2016:
Two newly constructed barrack type quarters of
Purum Chumbung Primary School and Thumlai
Primary School were inaugurated today, reports
our correspondent.
Constructed by ADC, Chandel under the
Central sponsored scheme 'Special Plan As-
sistant (SPA)' at the estimated cost of Rs 40
lakh each, the teachers' quarters have 8 rooms
each.
Apart from proper sanitation systems,
the quarters are fitted with solar lighting sys-
tems.
The inauguration programme was attended
by Ng John, Inspector II, ADC, Chandel, Pr
Perhoi, Purum Chumbung village chief and
Nongmaithem Yaiskul, Assistant Engineer,
ADC, Chandel as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Ng John said
that teachers posted in hill areas tend to use
deplorable condition of roads and poor ac-
commodation facilities as their excuses for
their absenteeism.
To provide better facilities
for teachers which in turn would make a big
impact on the lives of students of hill areas,
the barrack type quarters have been con-
structed.
Improving the educational system
and infrastructure of the Government schools
in hill districts are essential to provide better
platform to learn for students whose parents
cannot afford to send them to private schools,
he said.
He urged the teachers to maintain regular
attendance and discharge their duties effi-
ciently for the welfare of the students The programme was also attended by Ch
Mesil (Ranjit), executive member, PWD,
ADC, Chandel and M Moruson Maring,
Member, ADC, Chandel.
