Imphal, January 31 2016: Manipuri delegates who came from Myanmar, Bangladesh, Assam, Tripura and Jiribam to take part in the 287th commemorative function of the Puya Meithaba event were felicitated today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here under the aegis of JNIMS.

JNIMS Director Prof Deben Laishram, Prof N Jitendra and International Observation Committee on Puya Meithaba (ICOP) chairman RV Mingthing attended the felicitation func- tion as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

MEELAL president M Naokhomba, ICOP chief convenor N Tomba and comedian Sougrakpam Hemanta were also seated on the dais as special invitees.

Speaking at the gathering, Prof Deben called upon all Manipuris who have scattered and settled in different parts of the planet to unite together.

He also called upon the gathering to re-visit and preserve the history of Manipur.
