Crime Round Up 2012: 778 UG cadres arrested, 194 arms seized

Imphal, December 31 2012: In 2012, state police and central security forces arrested in all 778 cadres of 57 different UG organisations and recovered a large number of arms and ammunition.

The recovered items included 194 weapons of different types, 1607 round of ammunition, 159 hand grenades, 5 lethod guns, 40 lethod shells, 3 laptops, 48 detonators, 149 cellphones, 25 IEDs, 3 Electronic Devices, 1 electronic detonator, 9 Walkie Talkie sets, 4 kg explosive materials, 1 circuit, 200 gram TNT, 3 Pipe Bombs, 2 Remote Control Sets, 4 Electronic Transistors, 1 PC, 1 External Hard Disk, 2 Digital Camera, 1 Toy Pistol, 1 Air Pistol, 4.6 kg of Plastic Explosive Cake, 1 Pressure Bomb, 6 Landmine Bombs, 5 RDX cakes, 2 RPG and Rs 14,09,260 cash.

In addition to all these arrests and recoveries, 73 UG cadres, 33 civilians and 16 security personnel lost their lives in various violent incidents like bomb blasts, encounters and suspected fake encounters.
