'Chinga Meepham' commemorated

The historic 'Chinga Meepham' held on December 29 and 30, 1938 was commemorated today at Irabot Bhawan organised by Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India.
Today's function was graced by veteran CPI leader Comrade A Chaobi Sharma, City District Secretary, S Yaima and CPI, State Secretary, Laishram Sotinkumar as the presidium members.
The event started by paying floral tributes to the photo of Hijam Irabot led by the presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Comrade Maisnam Joykumar stated that the then Chinga Meepham is still relevant in today's society Since the public gathering in 1938 propagated the feeling of oneness among the people of the hills and the valley and to strive for a egalitarian society.
Speaking on the occasion, L Sotinkumar said that the Chinga Meepham was a landmark event which helped in bringing a revolution in Manipur and spoke in length about the gathering and the resolutions taken to deliver social justice.
He also deliberated about the significant contributions of Hijam Irabot who was the main proponent for the upliftment of the needy and poor people.
