Awareness programme held

Thoubal, August 30 2014 : A one day awareness programme on developmental schemes and programmes in respect of 6-Sita District Council constituency was held at Tengnoupal Development Committee office in Chandel district today.

The programme was held on behalf of the Manipur (Hill areas) Autonomous District Council (ADC) by S Tongpao Mate, executive member (CAF & PD, Art and Culture) ADC Chandel in association with the sub-divisional office, Tengnoupal.

While speaking at the programme, S Tongpao Mate said that the objective of organising the programme was to impart awareness to the masses regarding the Government developmental schemes such as Multi-Sectoral Development Program (MSDP), Indira Awaz Yozna ( IAY), etc.

Village chiefs, village authorities, civil organizations and NGOs should be aware of the different developmental schemes implemented by the Government so as to benefit the poor villagers through the schemes, said an executive member.

Mate further said that without the support and co-operation from the general public, village chiefs and NGOs developmental schemes could not be successfully implemented.

As such, people must cooperate the elected members and Government officials in order to develop the villages, he added.

Apart from distribution of blankets to the village chiefs, executive member ADC Chandel T Hopson Maring; member of District Council Chandel Ch Meshil Ranjit and SDO Tengnoupal L Kiran Kumar also elaborated on the developmental schemes of the Government during the programme.

President of the District Congress Committee Chandel Ns Mephul; president of the Block Congress Committee Tengnoupal Elvish Aimol; deputy inspector of schools Jamhao Haokip also attended the programme besides village authority members, chiefs, civil organizations leaders and representative of NGOs.
