FCI staffs in Jiribam on strike

Expressing strong disapproval over alleged beating up of two of their colleagues by personnel of 22 Assam Rifles in Jiribam on November 26, staffs of FCI office, Jiribam have stopped all their normal duties demanding an apology from the involved AR personnel.
Reports reaching from FCI said that in the afternoon of November 26, a personnel of 22 AR posted near Kadamtala Railway Station came to the FCI office at Jiribam and demanded the staffs to hand over a goat which was being tied to a post nearby the office.
On being informed that the goat belong to the locals, the AR man beat up two home guards deployed for duty in the office.
The report further stated that taking serious note of the incident; two cases have been filed with the Imphal East police Station.
Accordingly, Jiribam Police went to arrest the AR man, but the AR personnel prevented them from entering their camp.
The AR personnel also prevented the staffs of FCI Jiribam to take away rice bags are meant for FCI which are being deposited at Jiribam Railway Station.
As a result all the truckers coming from Imphal have not been able to load rice bags from Jiribam FCI and remained to remain stranded since November 27 .
A meeting of the Executive Staffs of FCI held at FCI, Imphal branch has condemned the act of the AR personnel in the strongest terms.
The meeting also termed the AR as enemy of the people of Manipur.
The meeting also demanded a written assurance from the AR personnel to the effect that such incidents would not happen again in future within December 1 next, failing which all FCI offices in the state would shut down indefinitely.
The resolution of the meeting would be forwarded to the Chief minister, Home Minister, DGP and other concerned officials, the report added.
