Awareness / free vaccination camp held

As part of the observance of World Rabies Day, an awareness cum free vaccination camp was organised at Leimapokpam Makha Leikai Community Hall, Nambol on the theme, "Breaking Rabies Boundaries".
The event was organised by District Veterinary Office, Bishnupur in collaboration with National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses, Department of Microbiology, RIMS, Imphal.
According to a release issued by RIMS, World Rabies Day is observed every year to commemorate the death anniversary of Louis Pasteur, renowned microbiologist who pioneered rabies research and vaccination.
The day aims to raise global awareness about rabies, advocating for its elimination and bringing together various sectors to unite in this cause.
During the event, Veterinary Officers Dr Achom Reena and Dr L Arjun delivered lectures on rabies prevention and treatment methods for household pets such as dogs and cats.
Informational materials, including Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) resources were distributed to attendees to further enhance understanding of rabies control and prevention.
A key highlight of the camp was the vaccination of approximately 80 cats and dogs, contributing to the broader effort to curb the spread of rabies in the region.
The event was attended by several distinguished individuals including Dr Ningthoujam Binokumari, Joint Director i/c and Dr Sunita Nambam, Veterinary Officer.
