Imphal, April 29 2015 : A team of Imphal East district police commando arrested one active member of KCP (Maoist) while conducting frisking and checking in and around Wangkhei area, Imphal East on April 26 .

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police dept, the arrested individual has been identified as Sagolsem Umakanta Singh alias UK alias Sirsum (42) s/o (L) S Yaima Singh of Charangpat Mayai Leikai.

From the disclosure of S Umakanta Singh, two other cadres of KCP (Maoist) namely Ningthoujam Telheiba Meitei alias Ango alias Boy (20) S/o N Babu Meitei of Chajing Khunou, Sugnu and Ningthoujam Silhenba Meitei alias Wanglen alias Tondomba (21) S/o N Ibohal Meitei of Laisoi, Moirang PS were arrested.

Further, on the disclosure of N Silhenba Meitei, one .45 pistol with 6 live rounds, three .32 live round of ammunition, 14 sticks of PEK (Explosive substance), two WT sets, three banners of KCP (Maoist), three red flags with stars of KCP (Maoist) were seized from the house of Konjengbam Ambika Devi alias Abi of Moirang Phairembam Leikai, it said.

In a follow up action, by Imphal East District Police Commandos, including Women Police, another cadre, namely, Sapam Sophiya Devi alias Yai (35) D/o (L) S Achoubi Singh of Nongmeibung Academy road was also arrested on April 27, 2015 .

Investigation revealed that the arrested persons were involved in extortion of money from general public, oil pumps and transport associations for raising party fund.

A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
