Imphal, January 29 2015 :
For the first time in the State, State Health Services Director and State Health Mission Director Dr Okram Ibomcha today launched a system in which posting of doctors are carried out through open counselling.
Dr Ibomcha said that the system has been introduced to end favouritism in the posting of MBBS doctors in the State.
He said that most of the doctors wish to stay in valley districts although there is lack of MBBS doctors in the hill districts and interior areas.
He said that in an open counselling held at RD Wing, Lamphelpat today, 220 doctors, recruited by MPSC, were called up to choose their posting places from among the list of centres where there are vacant posts.
As the counselling was conducted in a transparent manner, there would be no complaint of favouritism, Dr Ibomcha added.
Saying that the list was prepared with an aim to depute MBBS doctors in different parts of the State equally, Dr Ibomcha said that doctors have to stay at their selected posting places for two years.
