Babysana death case : Womenfolk stage sit-in, demand thorough, speedy investigation

Thoubal, July 28 2019: Condemning the death and 'slow police investigation', many in Thoubal staged sit-in demanding justice for N Babysana at Thoubal Khsetri Leikai Mini Market Complex Sunday.

It may be noted that Babysana, a Class VII student from Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai was allegedly found 'mysteriously' hung to death inside her hostel room at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Canchipur campus on July 18 .

Womenfolk at the sit-in organised by Kshetrileikai Women Development Association and SECDO Club Kshetrileikai expressed sorrow and shared the pain of the bereaved family members.

Asserting that the death of Babysana is 'questionable' considering the circumstances surrounding the case, the women at the sit-in demanded sincere effort from the police for a speedy investigation and early justice to family members and all students of the State.

Failure of the police to draw a conclusive investigation and identify those involved in the case even after 10 days is unfortunate, said a woman on the sideline of the protest.

"It is unlikely that Babysana committed suicide.

Even if this is the case, circumstances leading to her death should be established and all involved should be punished as per law for causing her to take such extreme action," said another woman who is also a mother of two daughters.

The womenfolk held many banners and placards demanding justice for Babysana.

They sought thorough investigation and interrogation of school authorities concerned and fellow students to establish 'truth' in the case.

It may be mentioned that social media like Facebook has been flooded with condolence messages and posts demanding justice for Babysana.
