Training programme ends

A four-day training programme for district community mobilisers, organised by National Health Mission in association with UNICEF and Envision Institute of Development, has concluded at the conference hall of Hotel Nirmala today.
Three participants each from all the nine districts of the State participated in the workshop entitled, 'Training of State master trainers on social and behaviour change communication training for routine immunization' .
Mention may be made that the immunization rate of Manipur is only 54 per cent while the National average is 65 per cent.
Directorate of Health Services Director and State Health Mission Director Okram Ibomcha said that in order to improvise routine immunizations, the State needs to overcome social barriers and myths.
Chief Executive Officer of Envision India, Varsha Chandra, who is imparting training on immunization at different parts of the country said that the trained community mobilisers would become master trainers at the district level and the district level master trainers would pass on the knowledge to health workers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers who would visit the parents of the targeted children for routine immunization.
Earlier the Chief Medical Officers and District Programme Managers were given training on social and behavioural change communication for routine immunization.
Participants of the workshop said that they have gained knowledge on theoretical and practical exercise and group work, IEC and BCC and the state immunization in Manipur.
