MSF demands response for Education department's malpractices

Imphal, July 27 2011:
To help alleviate the maladministration and misconduct by the officials of the state directorate of education(S), the Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) strongly demands responses from the concern department about the ongoing vague system of the department.
Laishram Ibomcha, president of MSF, speaking at the press conference held today at it office accused additional inspectors (AI) and deputy inspector (DI) of the department for draining off mid-day meal's rice to 40-60% which was meant for BPL students' .
He further said that MSF strongly demands clarification from the concern ZEOs and higher Authority from the department about this misconduct that has been happening around in the primary schools.
The higher authority of the department should recover all the quantum of rice that was siphoned off by the AIs and DIs and should initiate action against those accused officials.
Currently many teachers are being used as AI/DI in-charge.
Among them how many are trained and how many of them are untrained ones are not known.
There are some teachers who were selected as primary teachers are being promoted to graduate teacher without considering the parameter required for promoting as a graduate teacher, he accused.
The higher authority of the department should give responses to all the enquiries the have made in public adding that they would seek the required information through RTI if the concerning authority fails to reply.
Appropriates actions will be initiated among those officials who is found guilty for mal-practicing, he added.
Mean while in the press meet, MSF also expressed appreciation to state directorate of education (S) for their initiatives to increase the intake of seat capacity of class XI for both Arts and Science stream of government Higher Secondary Schools.
It further appeals to the Education (U) department to increase the in take capacity for students in colleges to cater the needs of students of the state.
