Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL), Manipur demanded a public apology from the principal of Ramakrishna Mission School, Imphal for holding classes on April 23, 2021, Khongjom Day which is not only a public holiday but a day where one pays tribute to the martyrs of Anglo Manipuri War 1891 .
In a letter addressed to Swami Dharmapriyananda, principal of Ramakrishna Mission School, Imphal, the lup stated that it is an act of disrespecting the history of Manipur by holding classes on April 23 which is observed as Khongjom Day, a day which holds a significant place in the hearts of the people of Manipur where the brave warriors laid down their lives to protect the integrity of Manipur.
Further it can also be termed as an insult on the conscience of the Manipuris that Ramakrishna Mission Society does not recognize any of the State's holiday or functions since it is not related to the Society.
Therefore Kangleipak Kanba Lup demanded for a public apology through the media within seven days of the receipt of the letter failing which the Lup will inform to the superiors of the Society regarding the unsuitability of the presence of the principal in Manipur and may even ask the Ramakrishna Mission Society to leave the State.
