Imphal, March 26 2018:
Luangdimai Citizens Forum has condemned the directive issued by the secretary to the vice president of GPRN/NSCN (IM) on March 17 to start the process of giving recognition to Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei and the reported Tatar Hoho which was widely circulated on social media sites on March 23 .
A press release issued by the convenor and general secretary of the Luangdimai Citizens Forum claimed that such instances of unilateral decision to divide and weaken the Zeliangrong community will not make the Naga society any better but will instead lead to animosity and hatred amongst the Zeliangrong people.
It urged GPRN/NSCN (IM) to revoke the decision to split Zeliangrong community into different tribes and added that Zeliangrong people have common ancestry, origin, history and culture even though they have slight dialect variations.
On the other hand, it mentioned that Inpui speaking section and Zeliangrong Apex body reached an understanding when the former asked for dissociation from the latter.
Pointing out that the Inpui speaking section is now functioning as a separate entity in the pan Naga social/cultural forum, it explained that no such agreements or understanding were reached within the Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme speaking section as of now.
As such, interference by GPRN/NSCN (>IM) without prior consent of the Zeliangrong people and its frontal organisation amounts to total disregard to the sancity and legitimacy of the Zeliangrong frontal organisations and the Zeliangrong people, it claimed.
It also mentioned that Luangdimai Citizens Forum will extend full support to the Zeliangrong frontal organisations in the steps to defend and uphold the common interest of the Zeliangrong people.
